JOHN H. SPURR, JR., Chairman, is President of A.W. Perry, Inc., a real estate management, development and investment company. He is a Director of Independent Bank Corp. and its banking subsidiary, Rockland Trust Company. He is also Chairman of the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District, a director of the Boston Municipal Research Bureau and a trustee of the South Shore Hospital Charitable Foundation. Jack served as the 2011 Chairman of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce and past president of both the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and the Building Owners and Managers Association of Boston. Jack has been on the Friendship Home Board since 1999, and he also serves on our Finance and Development Committees. Jack and his wife Kay live in Scituate and have two married daughters and five grandchildren.
K. DOUGLAS BRIGGS, CPA, CPCU has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company since 1985 after previously holding the positions of vice president, secretary and treasurer. Doug is a Board member at Quincy Mutual, Patron’s Oxford Insurance, Burgin Platner Hurley Insurance Agency, South Shore YMCA and a Trustee of Eastern Bank. Doug has a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. in accounting from Babson College. He joined the Friendship Home Board of Directors in 2013 and serves on the Finance Committee. Doug and his wife Claudia reside in Hingham and have two children. Doug enjoys hockey, travel and spending time with his family.
SUSAN DAILEADER joined the Friendship Home Board of Directors in 2011 after serving on the Golf and Gala Committees. She now serves on the Finance and Development Committees. Susan is a Vice President and Financial Consultant with Rockland Trust’s Investment Management Group, which is responsible for business development in Plymouth County. Susan has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Vermont. She has also earned the designation of Certified Financial Planner and holds a Certification in Long-Term Care (CLTC). Susan and her husband Mark reside in Scituate. They have two sons.
MEG DOHERTY has served as CEO of Norwell VNA (NVNA) and Hospice for nearly 30 years. Leading the agency from a single-town operation to a multi-million dollar organization encompassing 5 nonprofit entities that cover more than 27 communities on the South Shore, Meg has been cited by The Commonwealth Institute and The Boston Globe for its Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts. She has also been featured as one of five inspiring leaders by South Shore Living magazine. Her leadership has netted ten consecutive HomeCare Elite awards, including the last two as one of the Top 100 agencies in the country. A nurse practitioner, teacher, Massachusetts Public Health Council appointee, author and national advocate for home care, Meg Doherty is a visionary and leader in health care today. Meg lives in Norwell and is the mother of 2 adult children.
ROBERT J. FRASER is President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of MountainOne Financial, MHC, and its subsidiary, MountainOne Bank. Bob is also CEO of MountainOne’s insurance subsidiaries: Coakley, Pierpan Dolan & Collins Insurance Agency and True North Insurance Agency. Bob holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and earned an MBA from Northeastern University. He is on the board of directors of T&K Asphalt Services, Inc. and is an active community partner serving as a Board member of the North Adams Partnership and a member of the South Shore Hospital President’s Circle. His former Board positions include Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce in 2010, a member of the Board of Directors of the nonprofit organization Triangle, Inc. and a member of the Board of Governors of the Marshfield Country Club where he chaired its Finance Committee. Bob and his wife Mary reside in Marshfield and have four children. His son participates in our Friendship Club.
WILMA R. GOODHUE, Co-founder of Friendship Home and has served on the Board of Directors since 1999. Wilma is an active member of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation Regional and South Coastal Area Citizen Advisory Boards, a Trustee of the Edwin Phillips Trust of Marshfield, MA, and a member of the South Shore Mothers Support Group. Wilma and Joan Mullare were named Citizens of the Year in 2006 by the Norwell Chamber of Commerce and were awarded a certificate of Community Recognition by the Department of Developmental Services at the State House in 2001. Wilma resides in Norwell and has two sons. Her son Michael has Down syndrome and has been a Friendship Club member since 1999.
ROBERT B. HAWK is a retired senior executive with S&D Coffee, Inc. In this position, he was responsible for national and international sales and served on numerous national boards and committees, including the National Restaurant Association, Massachusetts Restaurant Association and National Association of Automatic Merchandisers. Bob earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lebanon Valley College and an MBA from the University of Utah. He was active in the early days of Friendship Home, serving on the Leadership Committee, Golf Committee and as auctioneer at many of the golf tournaments. Bob is active at the United Church of Christ in Norwell. He is the former Church Moderator and is currently the Treasurer and a member of the Finance Committee and Pastoral Search Ministry Team. A longtime resident of Norwell, Bob recently moved to Scituate. He has two married sons living in the area and four grandchildren. Bob enjoys playing golf, travel, spending time with friends and family.
PAUL JEVNE joined the Friendship Home Board of Directors in 2010 and serves on the Development Committee. Paul is head of The Jevne Team at Coldwell Banker Real Estate. An active community volunteer, Paul has hosted the Labor Day Picnic on the Common in Norwell to help celebrate the holiday, raise awareness and support local charities. Paul has served as President of the Plymouth County Board of Realtors and has been recognized as Realtor of the Year. He has also been honored by the Norwell Chamber of Commerce as Norwell’s Citizen of the Year. Paul and his wife have two daughters and one son and are lifelong Norwell residents.
KAREN MCARDLE Karen has been a champion for nonprofit organizations in the South Shore area of Massachusetts for more than 20 years, holding several volunteer leadership positions. On the Board of Directors for the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, she has connected the Phil with the Talking Information Center in Marshfield to provide live broadcasts to the blind and other shut-ins. Karen served on the Strategic Planning Committee of the TIC from January to June 2017. She is the organizer of the Phil’s Summer Concert Series at Laura’s Center for the Arts at the Emilson YMCA in Hanover. For the past 7 years, Karen has been involved with the Laura’s Love tournament at the Emilson YMCA, a fundraiser for its tennis program for people with developmental disabilities. She is a Member of the Corporation of the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield and the founder of Advanced Business Services, LLC, the first Executive Center on the South Shore, which provided business services, payroll and accounting to 24 in-house clients and several off-site small businesses. She previously volunteered on the Foundation Board of the South Shore Hospital, acting as chair of the Walk for Hospice for 2 years. A lover of dogs, Karen has served as Treasurer and Board member of N.E. Old English Sheepdog Rescue since 2000. She and her sheepdog held weekly Pet Therapy sessions at the Boys and Girls Club in Marshfield for many years. She graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in business. Karen and her husband Doug live in North Marshfield.
JOAN M. MULLARE, co-founder of Friendship Home, has served on the Friendship Home Board of Directors since 1999. She also serves on the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services Regional and South Coastal Area Citizen Advisory Boards and the Residential Committee of New England Village. She is also active in several mother’s support groups. Joan and Wilma Goodhue were named Citizens of the Year in 2006 by the Norwell Chamber of Commerce and were awarded a certificate of Community Recognition by the Department of Developmental Services at the State House in 2011. Joan resides in Norwell and is the mother of four daughters. Her daughter Meg has developmental disabilities.
KENWOOD MULLARE, Treasurer, an attorney, is married to co-founder, Joan Mullare. He is a former president of the Board of Directors of the ARC of the South Shore, a past member of the Southeast Region of the Board of the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services and a past member of the Board of Directors of New England Village, Inc. in Pembroke. In addition to serving on the Friendship Home Board of Directors since 1999, Ken serves on the Finance Committee and as corporate treasurer. Ken and his wife Joan live in Norwell and have four daughters. His daughter Meg has developmental disabilities.
DONALD W. SPRADLIN served as Chief Executive Officer of the US Subsidiary of PIAB Vacuum Products in Hingham until his retirement. He has been active in the Fluid Power Industry and for the last 26 years has served on several boards and committees of the National Fluid Power Association, the Fluid Power Distributor Association and the National Association of Wholesalers. Don is President of the First Parish Cemetery Association in Norwell, Ambassador Chairman for the 18th Masonic District of MA and recipient of the Joseph Warren award, the highest award bestowed on a freemason for selfless contribution to the Phoenix Lodge in Hanover. Don is a charter member of the United Church of Christ, Norwell, and serves as a regular Friendship Club volunteer. He and his wife Elizabeth live in Scituate and have one daughter, one son and two grandchildren. Don has served as a Board member at Friendship Home since 2010.
PAUL SULLIVAN is the Vice President and Director of Marketing of Sullivan Tire Company, which is a family-owned business. Sullivan Tire was started in Rockland, Mass., in 1955 by Paul’s late father, Robert J. Sullivan. Paul oversees advertising, marketing, promotions, Internet activity, public relations and family-related foundations for the company. Paul serves on the Board of Directors at Sullivan Tire, Abington Bank, The South Shore Chamber of Commerce and South Shore Coastal Workforce. He has served on the Friendship Home Board of Directors since 2013. Paul attended Whitman-Hanson High School, Northeastern University and many career-related advertising symposiums. One of a family of ten children, Paul is the proud father of two sons, Mark and the late Paul. A veteran of the U. S. Army, his hobbies and interests include spending time with his grandchild, traveling, playing racquetball and helping the less fortunate. He resides in Plymouth, MA.
PETER D. TEDESCHI is the former President and CEO of Tedeschi Food Shops, which was sold to 7-Eleven in 2015. Under his leadership, Tedeschi’s was recognized as “The Convenience Store Chain of the Year” in 2012. Prior to this role, Peter owned and operated Computer Concepts for 10 years before serving as a Vice President at Wellington Management for 5 years and as Senior Vice President and Director of Operations at Putnam Investments for 11 years. His former leadership positions include Vice Chairman and Treasurer for The National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), Chief Strategic Officer for the Midwest Retail Group LLC and member of the Executive Board of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. Peter enjoys speaking at industry events around the country and has been very engaged in advocating for the convenience store industry on Capitol Hill. In addition to Friendship Home, Peter serves on the Board of Directors of Lil’ Drug Store Products. He is a member of the Coca-Cola Retail Council and serves on the Board of Advisors for the North & South River Watershed Association. Peter is a graduate of Stonehill College. He and his wife Katherine live in Marshfield and have three adult children. Peter enjoys boating, golfing and traveling with his family.
