Our Board

ROBERT J. FRASER, CHAIR

Robert is President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of MountainOne Financial, MHC, and its subsidiary, MountainOne Bank.  Bob is also CEO of MountainOne’s insurance subsidiary MountainOne Insurance Agency.  Bob holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and earned an MBA from Northeastern University. He is on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Bankers Association, T&K Asphalt Services, Inc. and C. N. Wood Co., Inc. He is an active community partner serving as a Board member of the North Adams Partnership and a member of the South Shore Hospital President’s Circle. His former Board positions include Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce in 2010.   Bob and his wife Mary reside in Marshfield and his son participates in Friendship Home's Friendship Club.

K. DOUGLAS BRIGGS, CPA, CPCU, Treasurer

Doug has served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company since 1985 after previously holding the positions of vice president, secretary and treasurer. Doug is a Board member at Quincy Mutual, Patron’s Oxford Insurance, Burgin Platner Hurley Insurance Agency, South Shore YMCA and a Trustee of Eastern Bank. Doug has a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. in accounting from Babson College. He joined the Friendship Home Board of Directors in 2013 and serves on the Finance Committee. Doug and his wife Claudia reside in Hingham and have two children. Doug enjoys hockey, travel and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

PETER D. TEDESCHI, Secretary

Peter is the former President and CEO of Tedeschi Food Shops, which was sold to 7-Eleven in 2015. Under his leadership, Tedeschi’s was recognized as “The Convenience Store Chain of the Year” in 2012. Prior to this role, Peter owned and operated Computer Concepts for 10 years before serving as a Vice President at Wellington Management for 5 years and as Senior Vice President and Director of Operations at Putnam Investments for 11 years. His former leadership positions include Vice Chairman and Treasurer for The National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), Chief Strategic Officer for the Midwest Retail Group LLC and member of the Executive Board of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce.  In addition to Friendship Home, Peter also serves on the Boards of Lil’ Drug Store Products and VERC Enterprises. He is a Corporator for Mountain One Bank and serves on the Board of Advisors for the North & South River Watershed Association. Peter is a graduate of Stonehill College. He and his wife Katherine live in Marshfield and have three adult children and two grandchildren.  Peter enjoys boating, golfing and traveling with friends and family.

MEG DOHERTY

Meg has previously served as CEO of Norwell VNA (NVNA) and Hospice for nearly 30 years.  Leading the agency from a single-town operation to a multi-million dollar organization encompassing five nonprofit entities that cover more than 27 communities on the South Shore, Meg has been cited by The Commonwealth Institute and The Boston Globe for its Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts. She has also been featured as one of five inspiring leaders by South Shore Living magazine. Her leadership has netted ten consecutive HomeCare Elite awards, including the last two as one of the Top 100 agencies in the country. A nurse practitioner, teacher, Massachusetts Public Health Council appointee, author and national advocate for home care, Meg Doherty is a visionary and leader in health care today. Meg lives in Norwell and is the mother of 2 adult children.

TYLER HILSON

BRIAN HOUSE

BRIAN HOUSE is Managing Member of Dal Riata, LLC, which provides business and strategic advisory services to mid-market companies in the environmental and industrial sector. Brian recently retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Moran Environmental Recovery, after a 35-year career in the industry that began with Clean Harbors. He also currently serves as the Executive Director of the Spill Control Association of America, and is a nationally-recognized expert in his field. Brian has been involved with Friendship Home for many years, including as an active supporter of our Bridges to Work program for which he was the 2017 Provider Council’s Annual Business Partner Award. Locally, he was former Chairman of St. Christine’s Parish Finance Council, and also served on the Board of the Marine & Environmental Education Alliance. He is an avid coastal rower, both as a former Board member and active participant with the Cohasset Maritime Institute. Brian holds a BS from Bates College, and although grew up on the North Shore of Boston, he and his wife Ellen raised their children in Marshfield before moving to their current residence in Scituate. They have three grown children, and two grandchildren. 

ERIC MCLAUGHLIN

ERIC MCLAUGHLIN is Partner & Executive Vice President at C&S Insurance specializing in business insurance for non-profit and healthcare organizations. He is a longtime volunteer and supporter of Friendship Home serving on our Golf Classic Committee, and our Circle of Friends Gala Committee. Eric is a past President of Marshfield Youth Hockey, and past President of the Braintree Rotary Club, as well as a former member of South Shore Health’s Board of Trustees. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Eric and his wife Erin have two children and reside in Marshfield. In addition to serving his community, Eric enjoys coaching youth sports, boating, and golfing.

DAVID SULLIVAN

DAVID SULLIVAN is a partner in DGC’s Commercial Business group, and a member of DGC’s Executive Management Team. He has over 30 years of experience providing audit and advisory services to closely-held and family-owned businesses in a variety of industries. David specializes in auditing and taxation, succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence services, internal controls and systems, financial and tax planning, as well as placement of debt and equity financing. He is a frequent speaker and contributes articles to business and trade publications on topics such as tax strategies, succession planning and M&A strategies. David, a graduate of Merrimack College, resides in Scituate with his family.

JOHN M. TURCO, JR.

John is a Senior Vice President of RogersGray.  He is a longtime supporter of Friendship Home, co-chairing and serving on our Golf Classic Committee, Development Committee and the Gala Host Committee.  John has served as our auctioneer at several events and has emceed our Friendship Home Follies and our Circle of Friends Gala.  John is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Emilson YMCA, the Giving Tree Foundation and Scituate Little League.  He also serves on the South Shore YMCA’s Medical Wellness Advisory Board.  A graduate of the University of Georgia, John enjoys boating, biking, lending a hand and stand-up comedy.

OUR FOUNDERS

WILMA R. GOODHUE, Co-founder

Wilma has served on the Board of Directors since 1999. Wilma is an active member of the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services Regional and South Coastal Area Citizen Advisory Boards, a Trustee of the Edwin Phillips Trust of Marshfield, MA, and a member of the South Shore Mothers Support Group.   Wilma and Joan Mullare were named Citizens of the Year in 2006 by the Norwell Chamber of Commerce and were awarded a certificate of Community Recognition by the Department of Developmental Services at the State House in 2001. Wilma resides in Norwell and has two sons. Her son Michael has Down syndrome and has been a Friendship Club member since 1999.

JOAN M. MULLARE, Co-founder

Joan has served on the Friendship Home Board of Directors since 1999. She also serves on the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services Regional and South Coastal Area Citizen Advisory Boards and the Residential Committee of New England Village. She is also active in several mother’s support groups.  Joan and Wilma Goodhue were named Citizens of the Year in 2006 by the Norwell Chamber of Commerce and were awarded a certificate of Community Recognition by the Department of Developmental Services at the State House in 2011. Joan resides in Norwell and is the mother of four daughters. Her daughter Meg has developmental disabilities.

EMERITUS BOARD MEMBERS

KAREN MCARDLE

Karen has been a champion for nonprofit organizations in the South Shore area of Massachusetts for more than 20 years, holding several volunteer leadership positions. She has been a member of Friendship Home’s Board for four years. On the Board of Directors for the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, she has connected the Phil with the Talking Information Center in Marshfield to provide live broadcasts to the blind and other shut-ins. Karen served on the Strategic Planning Committee of the TIC from January to June 2017. She is the organizer of the Phil’s Summer Concert Series at Laura’s Center for the Arts at the Emilson YMCA in Hanover. For the past 7 years, Karen has been involved with the Laura’s Love tournament at the Emilson YMCA, a fundraiser for its tennis program for people with developmental disabilities. She is a Member of the Corporation of the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield and the founder of Advanced Business Services, LLC, the first Executive Center on the South Shore, which provided business services, payroll and accounting to 24 in-house clients and several off-site small businesses. She previously volunteered on the Foundation Board of the South Shore Hospital, acting as chair of the Walk for Hospice for 2 years. A lover of dogs, Karen has served as Treasurer and Board member of N.E. Old English Sheepdog Rescue since 2000. She and her sheepdog held weekly Pet Therapy sessions at the Boys and Girls Club in Marshfield for many years. She graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in business. Karen and her husband Doug live in North Marshfield.
