The Solstice Foundation Selects Friendship Home as Beneficiary of Summer Solstice Celebration
Kingston, MA — Plans are under way for The Solstice Foundation’s 14th Annual Summer Solstice Celebration on Saturday, June 17th at Solstice Restaurant. Tickets are $100/each and available on the Foundation’s website, thesolsticefoundation.org. This year, the Foundation has named Friendship Home in Norwell as the beneficiary of the event’s proceeds. Friendship Home’s mission is to enrich the lives of people with developmental disabilities by providing quality respite care and support services in a safe and caring environment. In 2016, the Foundation awarded Friendship Home a $5,000 grant to help the organization purchase a new 12-passenger van to transport its program participants.
“We are impressed with Friendship Home’s commitment to supporting these individuals and their families,” said John Cataldi, co-owner of Solstice Restaurant and Foundation Trustee. “It gives us great pleasure to add them to our long list of organizations that have benefitted from this annual celebration since our first celebration in 2003.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Friendship Home and celebrate the work they do with families across the South Shore,” said Theresa Breen, Foundation President. “When you visit Friendship Home, you can see the difference they are making in people’s lives and how happy their participants are. We are looking forward to sharing their spirit and story with our guests and inspiring giving”
Solstice Restaurant owners Cataldi and his wife Hollie created the Summer Solstice Celebration to celebrate their enthusiastic patronage and give back to the community. In 2013, they formalized The Solstice Foundation as an official 501c3 non-profit organization to support a wider range of local organizations.
“We’re thrilled that The Solstice Foundation has selected Friendship Home and appreciate that their customers attend this event every year in support of local charities and nonprofit organizations. Friendship Home is fortunate to have a strong Circle of Friends who have embraced our mission and supported our work. It will be nice to meet new Friends at this event who may not have known that Friendship Home is right in their backyard in Norwell, ” said Andrea Pyke, Executive Director.
The Solstice Foundation Board is comprised of community leaders dedicated to its mission; John and Hollie Cataldi, Theresa Breen, Allison Berry, Jill Daly, Donna Roth, and Brian Whidden. Past beneficiaries of the Solstice Restaurant Annual Summer Solstice Celebration include Hope Floats Healing & Wellness Center, Silver Lake Integrated Playground, South Shore Hospital’s Youth Health Connection, Heidrea for Heroes, One Fund Boston, Kingston Youth Sports Organization, The Kingston Public Library Foundation, Autism Speaks/ Boston Walk, Live Learn Love, The Soul Sisters Foundation, The Jett Foundation, The Jonathan Rizzo Memorial Foundation, The Brothers McWilliam Foundation, and Crossroads for Kids.
