Ernie Boch Jr. Presents Music Grant to Friendship Home
Friendship Home in Norwell was recently awarded a $7,000 grant from Ernie Boch Jr.’s charitable organization, Music Drives Us. Music Drives Us awards grants to organizations and individuals interested in using music as a tool to better the lives of people in all segments of society. The grant included musical instruments worth $3,000 and another $4,000 for enrichment programs at Friendship Home, which serves individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Director of Social Recreational Programs Gina Froio and direct support professional Tom Chappuis are incorporating music into evening programs and a weekly music class. Chappuis and Friendship Home members performed a song for Boch when he visited Friendship Home for the ceremonial check presentation.
This year marks the 11th anniversary of Music Drives Us, which has distributed more than $1 million to schools and nonprofit organizations to date. “Music Drives Us is proud to support the wonderful people of Friendship Home and their new music program! I am looking forward to following their continued success”, stated Ernie Boch Jr., the founder of Music Drives Us. “With this grant from Music Drives Us, Friendship Home has added another way to enrich the lives of our members. Music brightens everyone’s day and helps our participants express themselves. We are extremely grateful to Ernie Boch Jr. and Music Drives Us” said Linda Malone, Director of Development.
